Quotidian Colourwork
Learn with Felicity Ford AKA KNITSONIK how to turn your everyday inspirations into stranded colourwork! Bring something that is important to you – a favourite sweetie wrapper, a photo of a place you love, anything which inspires you – and together we’ll explore how it can be used as a basis for amazing and personal stranded colourwork.
Discover how Felicity Ford developed ideas for her book, the KNITSONIK Stranded Colourwork Sourcebook and begin creating your own swatch based on something you love. The Quotidian Colourwork class includes:
- playing with a wide range of different yarn shades
- choosing a palette for a project
- finding patterns in ordinary life
- experimenting with shading
- swatching in the round and working a steek
Materials
You will need to bring a set of 2.5mm DPNs or a circular needle as is your preference for knitting in the round and of course your inspiration source! We will provide the rest. Your inspiration source can be a special photo and/or object. You’ll use it as a starting point. Everything can be celebrated in stranded colourwork so don’t worry too much about picking the perfect inspiration source – as long as you choose something you love you’ll have a great time discovering and celebrating its hidden charms in your knitting.
In order to get the best from this class knitters will need to know how to knit in the round with two colours at a time; this means it is not suitable for beginners.
Participants will have access to a wide range of shades of Jamieson & Smith 2-ply Jumper Weight for their swatches. Exercise books with squared paper suitable for charting will also be provided.

I live in California SO far away. I am a digital artist and can’t wait to do some color drawings and patterns. Then knit them stranded in the round (that took YEARS to master) Guess steeks are next. Love your book. Hope to fly over one day and take a class.
Hello Felicity,
Just got your amazing book for Mothers Day from my son. love it.
And whats even more amazing is that I live on the A4074 in Cane End and I am an artist too ,inspired by the local area .
Hope to see you at one of your events sometime and all the best with your lovely work.
Arleen
How exciting that you live just at Cane End and know the A4074! Let me know where I can find your work, I’d love to see.
